SPIN Global is a Maryland-based public benefit corporation that exists to disrupt disasters from neighborhoods to nations. We are seeking qualified applicants to build a deployment-ready cadre, prepared to support response operations as opportunities arise. Applicants must possess a FEMA Entry on Duty (EOD).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections to assess structural and civil engineering components of disaster-damaged infrastructure.
  • Develop and review designs, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, including damage assessments, recovery strategies, and compliance findings.
  • Utilize FEMA’s Grants Portal to document and manage project records with full transparency.
  • Provide technical expertise on determination memorandums, appeals, and compliance with FEMA’s Public Assistance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including program delivery managers and site inspectors, to develop recovery solutions.
  • Stay updated with FEMA policies, procedures, and training requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with:
    • 5 years of experience in a related field and professional registration or
    • 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Completion of FEMA courses preferred:
    • IS-1000: Public Assistance Program and Eligibility
    • IS-1001: The Public Assistance Delivery Model Orientation
    • IS-1002: FEMA Grants Portal – Transparency at Every Step
    • IS-1004: The FEMA Site Inspection Process
    • IS-1018: Determination Memorandums and Appeals
    • 7116: Program Delivery Manager
    • 7117: Site Inspection
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, building codes, and standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Work onsite in North Carolina
  • Initial deployments are expected to be 12 months
